2000 malibu hvac blower relay

What does the hvac relay do and could it be the reason the blower does not work on any speed. All the fuses have been checked and they are fine. The resistor was replaced less then a year ago.

Re: 2000 malibu hvac blower relay

The relay usually switches power to the blower on/off.

You may have a similar relay for another component that you could swap on a temporary basis to test the blower relay.

Re: 2000 malibu hvac blower relay

Most of the relays in the fuse tray our alike just check the Number and swap it. and the fuses or good. and it still don't work you need to check your Motor By jumping with a jump wirer.(pull your relay and jump terminal #30 & #87) If it runs check your switch your lower speeds only go threw the resistor assembly. The high speed go threw its own fuses but both go threw the switch . So if it runs the motor and the ground or good so that leaves the switch being the culprit.

Re: 2000 malibu hvac blower relay

Usually a faulty relay affects the 4 lower speeds or the high speed, not all of them. Pull the relay out, one of the terminals in the relay socket should show battery voltage at all times. It comes from the fuse panel, 30amp, "HI BLO MOT". Turn the ignition to the run position, and the blower switch in the hi speed position. There should be a second terminal showing battery voltage. This terminal is fed from the fuse panel 20amp "HVAC BLOWER". The remaining 4 speeds can be checked by probing the blower resistor and moving the switch to the other speeds. As mentioned, when jumping terminal 87 to terminal 30, the blower should run on hi speed. If not, check the fuse, the blower motor, or the blower motor ground connection.
