2000 Bonne SSEi

Hi, my 2000 SSEi chugs on hills unless you really press down the gas. Someone suggested tapping the brake while keeping foot on gas when this happens. I did this and the RPMs jumped from 1800 to 2500 or so and the chugging stopped. However, I do not know what he said would be the problem if this worked. Any ideas??

Thanks,
Elizabeth

More than likely you have secondary ignition misfire i.e wires, plugs coils. Have the wires ever been changed? If not, I would start there.
