Fog lights

Vehicle in question is a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500. I'm trying to figure out if this is worth the cost and labor. The truck has 2 "holes" on the front end that would appear to house fog lights. I have not bought any lights yet. With that said:

Is there a recommended brand or type for this truck?

I've heard the front bumper needs to be removed for this kind of installation?

Since the lights would not be very low to the ground; are they really even effective?

I have some experience with aftermarket fog light kits, and yes, they're worth the money if you drive in rain/fog/snow alot. Basic wiring is pretty simple.. One hot, one ground, splice the lights together, install a toggle switch. I'd recommend screens to keep pebbles from breaking the lenses. Yes, they'd still be effective if properly aimed. I HATE wrongly-aimed fog/headlights! I WILL turn my KC lights in your face if you bright-light me!!! You shouldn't have to remove the bumper unless you install a factory kit. Just mount the lights to the frame or bumper and aim them through the holes!

The light wars are getting stupid, hopefully local Law Enforcement will start addressing it and include excessive/dangerous lighting as a revenue source through fines.
My stock fog lights only light up the road just in front of my truck...mainly just decoration and excessive lighting for oncoming drivers to have to endure so I only turn them ON to give folks who ride around with their foglights on in good visability conditions/for decoration to give them some of their own medicine. Otherwise they stay off.
The HID lighting on newer vehicles are blinding bright and dangerous to oncoming drivers. The owners are stuck with what's installed from the factory and it's really not their fault. I have to block them with my hand, reducing my view.

I've followed people who've put crazy lights on their cars just to blind me and spray painted their light back before! They seem to get the hint! Come on, folks! Aim those lights proerly!!! It costs like $25 at my local Expert Tire to get it done! I have a method that works well for aiming.. Park the car, head/fog lights on, make a reference point 25 feet in front of the car, aim lights at that point. Simple, effective, and legal!
