Idler pulley
Could someone please post something on how to change my idler pulley? Its on a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up 5.2L engine. Thanks in advance. Im heading to the parts store now, so hopefully someone will respond to this soon. Thanks again.

Re: Idler pulley
I'm guessing you are referring to the tension pulley. Get a socket to fit the bolt on the pulley itself. Push towards the drivers side, this will take tension off the belt. Slide the belt off. Tensioner then just unbolts off the motor. Replacement is the reverse.

Re: Idler pulley
It's like a 3/8 slender type braker bar for leverage.

Re: Idler pulley
I changed all of my belt pulleys with just a socket and a ratchet, pretty easy, lossen and remove the belt first of course. |
