Question Heated and Cooled Drivers Seat Shutting off

My 2005 LS heated and cooled driver seat will only stay on for about 2 to 3 minutes on either heat or cool mode. Then it shuts itself off and will not come back on again until I restart the car. Then it comes on for another 2 to 3 minutes.
The passenger side works perfectly.

Any thoughts from anyone? Is this something I can repair easily and relatively inexpensively?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

HAPPY 2010!!

And Thank you.

You need heated seats in Miami?
It sounds like a temp sensor on the drivers seat.

Re: Heated and Cooled Drivers Seat Shutting off

There was a TSB on the heated seats. I don't recall what years were effected or what the issue was and since I no longer have my LS, I no longer had the Alldata subscription for it. You might search this forum though for the information. I recall that there was a thread dedicated to heated seats not working.

I get to turn on the heat a couple of times a year. Thanks for the response. Is this difficult to replace?

Re: Heated and Cooled Drivers Seat Shutting off

The 2nd gen can get a crushed heat/cool duct that will shut it down, take the seat back off and look and see. The seat back pulls straight out at the bottom then pull straight down. This is the TSB shorod is talking about.

Yep, TSB 04-18-16.

Unfortunately this is all the info on it that I still have since my Alldata subscription ended.

Pasted below is a snipet of the TSB.
TSB 04-18-16

CLIMATE CONTROLLED SEATS TURNING OFF SHORTLY AFTER INITIALIZATION - DTC'S B2729, B2730, B2731
LINCOLN:
2003-2004 LS This article supersedes TSB 04-04-02 to update the vehicle model years and service procedure.
ISSUE
Some 2003-2004 Lincoln LS vehicles may exhibit a condition of one or both climate controlled seats turning off shortly after initialization with one of the following combinations of DTC's present in the climate controlled seat module (CCSM):
^ B2729 (Cushion Over-Temp Detected) with or without B2731 (Differential Temperature Fault) present ^ B2730 (Back Over Temp Detected) only ^ B2731 (Differential Temperature Fault) only ACTION
The conditions described may be caused by an airflow restriction due to seat cushion crush (2003 Model Year), or one of the ducts in the climate controlled seat may be disconnected (2003 or 2004 Model Years). Refer to the appropriate Service Procedure below for details.

Re: Heated and Cooled Drivers Seat Shutting off

Before you take the seat apart, check the seat air filter to see if it is clogged. Just remove it and go for a drive. If the seat stays on, then it is a good bet that you just need a new (unclogged) filter. The manual says to change the seat filters every 30,000 miles. Usually, the crushed duct issue will turn the seat off in less then one minute, not two or three.
