Tranny swap question

I do not know much at all of these cars but was wondering if a transmission out of a 99 taurus with the 3.0 duratec engine is compatible with a 96 taurus (ad says 3.0 engine). I know the 99 needs a duratec engine from the 98-99 taurus or mercury sable.

May be a little late, but it looks like most 99 trannys need to be replaced with another one out of a 99. Most 96s and 97s are interchangeable.
