4wd problem help
ok heres my problem hope u can help... this summer my 4wd went out, found the atc fuse blown replaced that then the service 4wd light came on after that replaced switch, motor, and actuator. without taking it to a dealership what else could it be. 99 silverado 4wd 1500 5.3L short cab

You'll need to check codes if you don't find a chewed through wire. The fuse didn't blow the second time and the light is still on, correct?
A cheap code reader won't do it (usually), you need something like a Tech-2 or MODIS for 4wd codes. Sometimes you need to take it to a shop, at least for diagnostics. I know people like to do it themselves and save money, but guessing at parts rarely accomplishes that.

i have a similar problem on my '01. went to put it into 4hi and the indicator light just went out. wont come back on and the 4x4 doesnt work. once the service 4x4 light came on briefly. maybe the 2 problems are related?

See if the front and/or rear shafts even attempt to move or lock in the various ranges. You can usually hear the TC actuator motor running.
