finding a turbo for a 2.2

Hey, all i am really looking into putting a turbo on my 2.2L this summer and i was woundering if anyone knew what cars would have them that i could use if i found a donar engine with turbo on it, so i could just use the turbo form the donar engine. I havent been able to find many kits but the ones i have found are very costly and im looking to not spend thousands of dollars.
Another thing on the turbo. Would it really matter what car it came off of??? i know i would have to get different plumming and all for it, but would i really matter as long as its small enough for my 2.2l?
Thanks

2.2 turbo

It is pretty easy to install a turbo into a 2.2. If you take a turbo off a 89 to 91 sunbird gt turbo, it is almost a complete bolt on. you will have to take off the exhaust pipe from the turbo to catalatic converter. You will also have to run vaccume lines to the wastegate. The air intake tube is the same as the 2.2. The only real problem is finding a place to put the oil and antifreeze lines. But you can just put a tee on the oil pressure switch for the oil feed line, and rig somthing up for the antifreeze line. I hope that this post was a little helpful.

Re: finding a turbo for a 2.2

i'd go w/ a turbo from an audi. alot of audi's have turbo's, and they're good turbos. make sure u don't get a diseil turbo-that'd be bad. beware getting a big turbo-lots of lag, and lots of boost. if you're running w/ stock internals, make sure u have your wastegate set to about 6-8psi, don't risk going higher though some cavaliers have been known to run 10psi w/ stock internals. if u can, perfect turbo for cavaliers would be a T04E, an upgrade of the T3/4, check ebay, kinda new.

oh, and nice to see you back around here again chevyfreak
