battery drain

hey couldnt find my original post on this, but to catch you to speed, my 90 civic wasnt starting unless i push started it. once i replaced the safety switch it would start and did ok for about 2 days. then it sat over the weekend, and when i went to start it i had no battery power.
took it to a shop to see if they could track down the draw, and they said it was coming from the brakes, but they couldn't find where...

so on that note, does anyone have any ideas for finding/fixing the problem from there? they put in a new tail light on the left side, and it still had the draw, so i assume the right side would be where its coming from.

Re: battery drain

MOSt of the time if there is a battery draw its the alternator, or an aftermarket accessory. alarm,radio,amp...etc...also check your door pin switches.

Re: battery drain

when you say door pin switches, do you mean the light in the dash that says the door is open? if so, that light is on when the car is on, its not the original pass door, and the light is on when the car is on most of the time... doesnt it cut off when the car is off tho?

Re: battery drain

the dummy light on the dash would go out, but the dome circuit is constant.. probably not it but still worth checkin out. the switches get old and rusty and fail to make connection..and as far as coming from the brakes you did mean, the brake lights right..

Re: battery drain

yea well i mean they just said we narrowed it down to either the brakes or the horn, and then said the horn was ok. So i assume the brake lights, cause he said the new light he put in he also swapped the harness to see if that was it. but it didnt fix the issue, he didnt do the pass side light however... just from looking at the fixture looks like some debris has gotten in with the rev lights... dont know if those pull from the same circuit or not... when i get a chance i'll try to get out there and clean out the car real good and have a better look around and see what i can find.
