electric shocks / 01 K2500 Sub

Another question...

was looking at rock auto the other day for parts for my suburban and just looked in the suspension area at shocks... The electric shocks are like $600 EA.

Maybe I'm crazy but what might be wrong (when the OEM shocks die) to just remove the OEM shocks and replace with standard HD shocks. I realize the so called active suspension would no long function but that's not a huge concern of mine. Do the electric shocks interface with like a body control module and would that set off any trouble codes?

Anyone else tried this.... not all fired up about paying big bucks for shocks, when that time comes.

Re: electric shocks / 01 K2500 Sub

someone apparently emailed me a question on this and I misplaced or delted that email.

To answer the question...No I never learned 100% if you can simply swap out the shocks and turn off auto-ride. I think you could most likley swap the shocks but unsure how you would prevent the BCM from seeting some type of code related to auto ride if you unplugged the sensors or what other issues you might encounter.

I recently bought a K2500HD pickup and no longer have the K2500 Suburban. I have 173K on the sub and thought it best to move on to something else, plus needed the pickup for other projects that the suburban was not suited for.
