97 cirrus loses power above 3500 rpm

Hello, My Cirrus 2.4L loses power above 3500rpm, starts and idles fine but seems to die when you try to get on it. No codes, 135,000 miles, new head gasket cause it was leaking oil down the back of the block and now it blowed a exhaust gasket. I think the catalytic converter is stopped up cause it is also rattling. Thought a get some opinions before I tear it out. thanks for any advice.

Hello, Try removing it and make sure all the connections are clean if it worked before it should work again.

Well it was a bad Cat, finally put it on a lift and low and behold a big dent in it. Cut it off to replace and it was busted in half inside and the insides was turned sideways blocking flow. Should have figured it was something like this the wife already knocked a hole in the oil pan. Should never have gave it to her after I lowered it. Women without them we would not have cars to work on.
