Question 2009 5.3L FLEX Sierra Improve Gas Mileage

I want to improve my mileage in my truck if possible.. I use it for plowing and 8mpg-10mpg is pretty poor compared to my 6.0L 2007 HD that got 15mpg when I was plowing snow.. Any Idea? Would a cooler Thermostat help a bit?

Cooler thermostat would have no effect. Are you using E85 or gasoline? E85 has a lower energy content therefore lower mileage if you are using that..

No I am using Gasoline.. Usually 89 Octane... The other issue I have is the tranny runs at 200 Degrees when Plowing.. GM ran the factory cooler inline with the old style radiator style cooler... So stupid...
