Running temp

My car seems to have heat, pretty good heat too...however my temp gauge barely goes above 1/4...if my heat is hot does that mean my engine is at running temp...what could be causing my temp gauge to show 1/4, but my heat to actually be hot..

Re: Running temp

Operating temps should be 3/8ths read from the guage. Replace your engine coolant temperature. A bad one will be telling the PCM and gauge your engine is cool, when it really is not (thus you have good heat).

No need to bring it anywhere. New sensor is 10 bucks and well worth it to be replaced.

As long as you have a deep well 13mm socket & ratchet, can afford $10, have 10 minutes of free time, and the slightest inkling of mechanical aptitude, you can replace the ECTS.

It is a very easy repair......easier than an oil change on these cars IMO.

Re: Running temp

When mine went bad the auto transmission temp sensor went around the same time. I believe they are the same type so it kind of made sense. Not saying to change it, but if you get a check engine light and the code leads to the transmission. Then you may want to remember.
