Bronco gas tank

I am working on a 1985 Bronco for a friend, it had a new gas tank put on it before he got it, now when you put gas in it the gas sprays back at you.

Re: Bronco gas tank

that filler tube is built of two hoses the the outer pipe witch is the vent and a inner tube the inner tube is the filler and its about 5/8 to 1 inch in dia check and make sure there are no kinks in the pipe or the person who installed the tank thought they would get better fuel flow if they removed the inner tube witch is not the case it causes more troubles like the fuel spraying back because there is no vent

Re: Bronco gas tank

OK, I see the vent part in the metal filler tube but not the rubber hose.

Re: Bronco gas tank

Just looked on LMC Truck website, saw there is a vent on top of the tank. Could this being plugged cause my problem?

Re: Bronco gas tank

yes it could cause some issues but if your missing that center hose the vent on the tank will not keep up with the air displacment of the fuel going in so it will back up the filler tube will the tank take the fuel if you go slow filling it up
