Can you maintain/repair a Prius in the driveway?

Can you maintain/repair a 2001 Prius in your driveway or do you have to take it to the shop because of the computer and battery?

Any advice for buying a 2001 Prius with $132,000 miles on it -- good idea or bad idea? The dealership says the main battery was replaced at 100, 000 miles and the operating regular one was replaced last week.

It appears from reading other posts that oil changes are more expensive. Are other repairs/maintenance issues more expensive as well?
