procedure to remove right side valve cover????

On to the next question 1996 4.6 L
This may seem silly to those who haven't done one of these. Believe me there isn't room to remove the right side valve cover. The heater box is in the way. I ended up prying it off, but doubt I will be able to get it back on. Surely I don't have to unbolt that side motor mount and rock the engine up and to the other side. Any one know the correct procedure?

I've read a few articles on replacing valve stem seals, they all begin with removing the covers.

The FSM is no great help here either.

Every article says the same thing, remove the coilpack and it's brackets, loosen all wire mounts to give as much maneuvering room as possible, then pull forward and upward to remove the cover.

Some articles say slide the cover a bit forward before lifting, but I can't imagine that happening.

Then our favorite part, reverse procedure to install. I can't find anything that makes mention to loosening the motor mounts.

Lots of comments on the seal procedure, one is "I found the hardest part is the covers and keepers"

Pull forward and up, easier said than done. I un hooked the wire harness that goes to the coil pack, ac compressor and crank sensor. I left the coil pack on. The spot where I was hanging up is that back edge of the rack that holds down the cam shaft. It is so tight, I couldn't lift the cover up high enough to clear that spot to slide it out. I pulled all the silver insulation off the heater box and it gave me a little more room in there. I ended up just reefing the cover off. It might go back on easier than it came off. I haven't tried putting it back together yet, was wondering if there is some trick to it. I don't remember having any problems on the older 90's model's. Thanks Steve

Once its in position, it kinda pop's in, or snaps in!

No snaping in with this one. It's much easier to install than remove. Did it today, used a rubber mallet. You just have to get rough with it.
