Windshield washers don't work. '01

When I try to use the windshield washer, the wipers cycle a few times, but it does not spray, the washer fluid tank also leaks pretty bad. (yes, there was washer fluid in the tank when I tried this) Going to try to get to the bottom of this over the holiday break, just wondering if anyone has any insight on this before I get started. The tank looks like a pain in the a$$ to get to. Also, I'm pretty sure my car was wrecked before I got it, missing fasteners under the hood, panel/headlight gaps etc. The washer hasn't worked since I got the car. It is a 2001 GT

my first guess would be a bad washer fluid pump. of course check the wiring and everything first...

Did you use washer fluid with Antifreeze protection?

Mine will sometimes work and then nothing. I'm assuming it's a wiring issue because I'll get in there and shake the harness a bit and they will work consistently. I wish it was as easy as a pump...

I have always used washer fluid with antifreeze protection, I don't know if the previous owner did

Some of the cheaper window washer fluids don't have the protection, and his fluid tank is leaking.

I removed the shroud in front of the front wheel to access the tank, which was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be, and found out that the tank was leaking at the bottom of the fill neck around the rubber seal. So the tank was basically full. I found out that I am getting voltage at the pump, but the pump isn't doing anything. So it looks like just a bad pump. Really glad its not a wiring issue or damage due to freezing.

make sure you either have a catch basin or remove the entire tank and empty it before changing the pump, as it will all pour out when you remove the old pump.
