Accord 99'
Hello good people. I recently got a check engine light in my car. I hooked it up to the little yellow monitor and it showed a 1167
P1167 HO2S11 Heater Circuit (VS+) Fault (Bank 1 Sensor 1) I do not know what that means, can someone please elaborate on it and explain what is needed to fix it? Thank you for your time. |

Re: Accord 99'
O2 sensors have a heated grid now because they don't produce a usable signal until fully heated. Older cars without o2 heat would have to run longer in open loop (no feedback control of mixture/emissions) until the o2 sensor warmed up.
The control computer can tell the heater is not working when it sees out-of-range voltage signal from the sensor that don't jive with the other reading it sees from the other o2 sensor when the motor is cold. So you probably have either a failing 02 sensor heat grid, or a wiring problem. Either way it's a cold start emissions compliance problem, probably won't effect driveability or fuel mileage....

Re: Accord 99'
PS I think HO2 indicates the sensor after the cat convertor...

Re: Accord 99'
Ok, so how much would a fix for it cost on average?

...you're right, I was having a senior moment....![]() HO2=Heated oxygen circuit If the sensor is easily accessible, and you've changed a spark plug before, all you'd have to do is buy/borrow an o2 sensor socket and replace it....and all it would cost is the price of the sensor... I'd buy the Honda part if you can afford it...sometimes aftermarket o2 sensors aren't correctly recognized by the computer, and it will still give fault codes. I just looked it up on Majestic Honda's site...$166.30 if it's an LX 4 cylinder...
