Need new front brake pads and rotors

I took my car in for the scheduled maintenance and the mechanic said that i need new front brake pads and rotors. He quoted me $400 where they would replace them with a set from Wagner and $150 if I bring in my own supplies.

I've never had anything replaced before so I have no experience with this or what brands are good. Should I just go ahead and have them replaced or buy my own set online?

Re: Need new front brake pads and rotors

another place quoted me $365 and they use original honda part. Are they better/worse than Wagner or aftermarket ones?

Re: Need new front brake pads and rotors

I would go with OEM parts, online shipping cost can add $15-$20 to your total cost. You might call the dealer and check to save S&H, but for the most part Honda parts are fairly priced. I have had great luck with my rotors they are originals at 105k and never been touched (did the pads with oems at about 60k)

$150 is a bit high, a pretty straightforward job and I hope he cleans the caliper slide pins for you, and make sure he uses the disc brake quiet application stuff as well.
