95 suburban 5.7L bad mileage

i have a 95 gmc suburban, with a 5.7L gasser, it gets bad mileage 10mpg at best, just replaced the catalitic convereter, it runs better but it still stumbles a little at idle, im wondering if the throttlebody is putting in to much fuel?? im not sure how it known how much fuel to put into the motor??? other than that the truck runs good, decent amount of power...

Re: 95 suburban 5.7L bad mileageP

Not sure why you would start with the cat converter
give it a tune up plugs wires clean throttle body and MAF
Sensor and then O2 sensors and fuel filter need to be changed
then you will have a burban that will get @13 city I have
a 96 burban used mostly on highway for trips to tx,ca,
from south Florida it gets 600 plus miles to a tank by doing
the above preventive maintenance you want good gas get
a smaller car for city and save the burban for the long
my 96 has over 2 hundred thousand miles

GOOD LUCK, MAINTENANCE = BETTER GAS MILAGE

.....yeah thanks.... i bought the truck to drive when i go hunting, not for the AWSOME mileage! cuz' the wife is NOT happy when i bring a deer home on the trunk and the deer's dripping blood onto the bumper.... i have a lumina i drive to work. i changed the cat BECAUSE it did not pass emmissions, and after i did that - it passed - and it has more power too. i have ALREADY changed engine oil & filter, fuel filter, air filter, cleaned the maf sensor, the intake was already clean, changed the cap-rotor-spark plugs-wires, and coil, trans oil (flush) & filter, front and rear diff oil, transfercase oil. and i checked the valve lash - no adjustment was needed. i think i got the maintenance thing covered! i just thought it would get better after i did all the maintenance... it didn't. THATS why im asking.....
