ABS light / codes?

My 2004 GTP keeps throwing codes C0036 and C0245 both relating to the ABS system. C0036 relates to the left front hub assembly (wheel speed circuit range performance) and C0245 relates to WSS frequency EBCM control valve. Anyone know what the WSS frequency EBCM control valve is?

Re: ABS light / codes?

Welcome to AF

Were these ABS/Chassis DTCs and translation out of a GM service manual or generic and what scan tool was used? WSS is wheel speed sensor. The EBCM or EBTCM (Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module is the main electrical component that controls the ABS braking and traction control system. The left front wheel sensor issue is probably causing the latter DTC or you may have an issue with the EBTCM.

Re: ABS light / codes?

Thanks for your help. I just returned from my mechanic and he replaced the left front hub / ABS sensor assembly. After a 15 minute road test, all appears to be good. No light and the ABS is working fine (tested on some very icy side streets here in Montreal) so far so good!

The old hub assembly was a real mess. Very rusty both outside and in where the gear and sensor is located. I can see why the system was throwing a warning light and code.

Is this kind of wear and tear normal after 6 years and 104,000 kms?

The entire job (hub assembly, labor and system scan) set me back $260 which I thought was quite reasonable.
