81 6cyl gas pedal stuck wide open on start

Drove 81 6cyl 45 miles to work in bitter cold (8 degrees) this am. No problem. Went out to start it, gas pedal stuck on wide open, put my foot under the pedal and pulled it back. Fell back to idle, then touched pedal again, went to full throttle. Shut down. Waited 5 minutes. Now won't start. Sitting inside at work for a while, then will try again. Too cold to stay with it, hope somebody knows. 45 miles from home. Last car not buried in a snow bank.
