Spark plug wires----- what is recomended?

My 99 Silverado w/5.3 in it had recently developed a stumble at low revs but goes away as the rpms increase and according to a mechanic friend of mine, who has the same truck,it is most likely a bad plug wire.I trust this guys opinion very much and have been pricing plug wires for my ride which vary greatly according to what brand you want to buy.I do know which wires I need, the 10.5" ones, and the best quality ones I can find locally are Bosch but don't have any experience with them. Are they any good?I'd like to put OEM back on but without ordering them I can't readily get a set and my only other option is Standard but I don't have much faith in them, past experience.

the wires MAY be your problem...with an ohmmeter measure the resistance..should be 550-650 ohms...all wires should be close to each other...

see if you have any dtc's in the computer..this will help narrow it down ...measure fuel pressure with a gauge ..5.3L is 53-62 psi...

I mention this because low fuel pressures may not throw a code..

I have used the delphi wires very good quality..exact correct length..as oem..

why not on line order no big deal....unless where you live you need sled dogs

Re: Spark plug wires----- what is recomended?

I got a 6.0L and when i replaced the plug wires i stepped it up a notch to the MSD Ignition wires, they cost a lil bit more if i remember right, but they are just a lil bit bigger diameter. FYI i couldn't really notice any power gains, but look at it this way, Bigger wire, better spark, cleaner, better burn. Everybody has there own opinions on what to get.

larger diameter wires offer not a hotter spark but greater resistance to voltage leakage [arcing].

remember the resistance of the aftermarket wires must be close to the oem spec. resistance...this has all been carefully tested.

Re: Spark plug wires----- what is recomended?

I appreciate the replies guys but I found my problem the number 5 cylinder wire was not snapped onto the spark plug.I was pulling the wires off to ohm them out with my meter and when I went to pull the one off number 5 it almost fell off the plug.I had the exhaust manifold off a couple of months ago to fix broken bolts and must not have pressed the wire back on well enough on re assembly,DOH!!!Funny how it took that long for it to work itself off enough to cause the skip.

Re: Spark plug wires----- what is recomended?

since this was arcing this connector and wire should be checked carefully for damage as the arcing can damage the fragile center conductor at the terminal crimp..
