04 Taurus power shutdown

Hi we have a 2004 Ford Taurus. On the highway today we turned the lights on and the entire power system shut down. We pulled over and restarted right away.
It happened again the same day (today) when we hit the anti lock breaks.
We are thinking to just buy a battery. We just checked the battery and got 12.58 v
Thanks for your help.

Re: 04 Taurus power shutdown

Welcome to the forum!

If your 2004 has the original battery, it is definitely nearing the end of its usable life. Be sure when you change the battery out to make sure that the cables are clean before installing on the new battery and make sure you snug them up as you're installing the cables.

Please post back and let us know if the battery seems to have fixed the issue or if further troubleshooting is necessary.
