1989 Reatta

I have found a nice 1989 Reatta with 125K miles, priced at $3900. This seems like a reasonable price, but before I made the purchase I wanted to check here and see if there were any faults with these automobiles. I have owned three Buick`s with 3800 engines and have had good service out of them. Since the Reatta is a 1989 I won`t have to worry about the UIM, are there any other areas that I should look at?

Re: 1989 Reatta

Not really. All the relevant mechanical issues that affect these cars also affect the full size FWD GM cars of the late-80;s. They are solid and reliable. Subframe-mount rust is always an issue, as is the pesky camshaft position sensor issues.

So, scan for codes and check all the usual things.

The only thing to look out for are the body items that were unique to the Reatta, because there is not much of a source of used body panels, trim pieces and glass.

So, make sure its rust and dent-free, with no damaged/missing trim pieces, since replacement pieces are a bit rare/expensive.
