Strange sound behind dash 98 Yukon

I recently had all the fuel injectors replaced, and the mechanic said it would take awhile for the computer to reset itself and everything go back to normal. There is this sound behind the speedometer area ,it is like a tape player or fan noise it is constantly on ,and when I turn the truck off you can hear it powering down? Any ideas? Thanks for your help

Re: Strange sound behind dash 98 Yukon

could be a couple diff things. i had the same kind of sounds after i changed the intake gasket on mine. it ended up being a bad spider injector assembly. prob what it is if someone was just in there. i didnt hear that sound before i worked on it and did nothing to the assembly but clean and reinstall.

also there is a fan to cool the radio. that fan will run with the key being on. so if u dont hear it then it prob the injector assembly.

good luck

Re: Strange sound behind dash 98 Yukon

Thanks for your reply. I have an appointment there Monday, I called and he said he didn't know what it was. Does this mean he has to take everything apart again? Yes he said it would take a few drives to reset the computer.

Also since I left there, when I press on the gas it is making a squealing sound on and off.

Re: Strange sound behind dash 98 Yukon

a good mech should be able to pinpoint the noises. i wouldnt trust him a whole lot because of what he said about the comp reseting tho. squeal sound could be belt or a pully.

i cant tell for sure without looking at it, but those are my best guesses. yes would have to come apart again. not that hard of job. injector assemblys are a lil pricey. heres a link http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/search/?N=0&Nr=AND(wpn_tl_name:Engine+%26+Drivetrain,wpn_ cat_name:Fuel+Systems,wpn_scat_name:Fuel+Injector)

anyone else have a diff opinion???

goodluck

Re: Strange sound behind dash 98 Yukon

that link didnt go right to the assembly, so click on all fuel systems, then under fuel injector click see all, the top 2 are the assemblies
