You need to replace the sending unit in the gas tank. Anyone replace the fuel pump recently?

Re: couple more questions 97 riviera

I had this exact thing happen in my 97 riviera, it is the fuel sending unit. It is part of the fuel pump assy. Access to the fuel pump(luckily) is located in the trunk under the carpet, there is a bolt-on access panel right above the fuel pump. hope this helps

Re: couple more questions 97 riviera

I had a new fuel gauge sending unit installed in the 97 Riv a long time ago.. maybe in 2001 or 2002. The gauge was flaky. Two years ago the local dealer did fuel system maintenance which involved fuel filter and new fuel lines. It looks like they did a VERY good job. Lots of new fuel line parts, and it didn't cost much.
