Toyota bB

This is an other new project from me, to start working with Zero Paints.

I also decided for a cheap and simple kit, and found this Toyota bB.

The kit contains not many parts, but some extra decals and carpet for the floor made my day

I'll use some XS-Tuning 17'' wheels for this car.

The color will be solid Jet Black from Zero Paints. I also will use the dragon decals.

Kris.

Re: Toyota bB

These cars never apealed to me. Everytime i see one, i think of a clown car. Either way it is a good choice to practice on. Cheap and easy to build.

Keep us posted kris, i think the wheels suit it well.

Haha yes that's the right name of this car. CLOWN CAR.
Somehow I like ugly cars. Just like the Daihatsu Move and Honda city.

If you search for toyota bB on google, you really got some nice JDM cars But factory stock they don't got my attention either

Re: Toyota bB

Today I painted the zero paints primer on the body. It is a bit rough but after sanding (like in the description) with 6000 grid it is smooth enough for the black paint.

You can see some of the panellines are not straight anymore..... I scribed them out because they were nearly visible, but because they not so deep, I made more damage than deeper panellines.... I tryed to fix it with some putty and try to made them again but it was stil shit

Any tips for making new panellines?

This model is just a testcar to start working with zero paints, so these faults are tolerated to me

Re: Toyota bB

Today I painted the body with a couple layers Jet Black from Zero Paints.

I also did 2 layers clearcoat on it, but the result wasn't any good at all. I got spiderwebs from this paint which circles all trough my paintboot. I use the Zero Paints pre-thinned clearcoat. Anyone got this before, or knows a solution to this problem?

Re: Toyota bB

I have had the spider-web problem using lacquer before. The problem for me was I was that I needed a lot more thinner. The stuff I was using needed 4 parts thinner to 1 part clear and I had forgot and mixed it 2 parts thinner to 1 part clear which made the mix way too thick.

From the picture it looks like your paint job is still ok I would just try adding more thinner to your clear and see how it sprays.

Other people don't have this problem with the same pre-thinned clearcoat. It is thin enough. Maybe it is going better tomorrow.

Oh, and the pics above are not with clearcoat, only with black paint.

Re: Toyota bB

On thing I forgot to mention is that if your paint has sit a while, some of the thinner \ reducer could have evaporated out.

Re: Toyota bB

bB = big Box

But it's nice to see "something different from usual". Keep up good work.

pressure too high, the clear-coat dries before reach the body, you need less pressure since the clear-coat is pre-thinned.

Re: Toyota bB

I clearcoated the body with the Zero paints pre-thinned clearcoat. I think this is the worst clearcoat I ever used. I got spiderwebs all the time, and I tryed everything from lowering pressure, and other distances.

Here's the result:

Like shit as I said. But I managed to sand the body smooth and polished it, so it looks a lot better now, but itīs still not how I want it. The pre-thinned clearcoat will be sold or something cause I ordered the 2K clear from Zero paints yesterday. This clearcoat is very good as I heard from some members of my club. They also had the same problems as I had with the pre-thinned shit.

I also painted the windowtrims on the windows. The maskings are very great from Tamiya.

Today I finished the interior. The thinner destroyed an sealing from my airbrush, so I had to wait for some new ones. Yesterday they came, so I could spray the interior.

I used yellow and grey and some black and aluminium details.

The floor had to be covered with some carpet which was included in the kit, but I ruined it all, except for the middle section. From some plasticcard I made some new templates and covered them with grey interiorflocking. I think it looks good now.

Doorpanels:

Frontseats:

Dashboard:

After that I put it all together. Only some accesoires were missing so I searched for some nice parts. It's very child friendly now, except for the Marlboro sigarets

The next i'll do is the chassis. A small modification is necessary for the new wheels. Maybe I should paint the wheel spokes in red or something?

Happy christmas everybody!

Kris.
