98 Ford F150 Transmission Problem
My 1998 Ford F150 has no forward gears. Was at a stop sign, and it was like I put the trans in neutral. It has reverse, just no forward gears. Is it time for a new trans? Is my trans computer controlled? Is there a solenoid inside the trans I can replace?
Miles: 130K 1998 Ford F150 4x4 XLT . From what I've found, my trans has two possibilities: 4R70W AODE-W F85P-HA(PKF-BD) or F85P-CA(PKF-AY) How do I tell which trans I have? Monte Heeren |

Re: 98 Ford F150 Transmission Problem
Probably not. Computer integrated. Inside. Check the Permanent sticker on the inside of the drivers door jam.// Block the tires. Crawl under and see if your linkage is shifting to give you your forward gears (takes two people/one will be moving the shifter).

Re: 98 Ford F150 Transmission Problem
It is probally in the transmission which is computer controlled, burned up clutches or something broke. The interchange is 1998 only if finding an used transmission.Look at the pan,if the bigger pan,E4OD and the small pan,AOD.I did one one 1998 so far for an used car dealer and the interchange is 1998 only which said in the Hollander,an interchange book.Ford changed the electronics in 1998 which is the big differance. You do need that info which you posted finding the right transmission.

Re: 98 Ford F150 Transmission Problem
Thank you for all the replys!
Found a '98 trans, but its a two wheel drive. Can I still use it on my 4x4? Can I swap out the tail housing? |
