2001 rodeo coolant leak??
61,000 miles on the car. I can not seem to find where the coolant is leaking from. I get a few drop on the ground mostly when the car is cold and I just move it out of the garage or something. Dont see anything leaking from the water pump area. The drip end up on the front of the oil pan but can't see where they start from. any guess???

Re: 2001 rodeo coolant leak??
There is some plumbing under the intake manifold that has been known to leak. It's sealed with an o-ring. It's a hassle to get to as you have to pull the intake to get to it. You also have to pull the intake to change the thermostat so if you end up in there, do that as well. Might want to install one of those 'fail-safe' thermostats.

Re: 2001 rodeo coolant leak??
I can see where some coolant has been puddling just under the hose just below where the air intake is. This coolant does not seem to run down the front on the engine could it leak into the valley under the fuel injection and end up leaking off the oil pan????

Re: 2001 rodeo coolant leak??
There is a coolant return pipe that connects the two heads. The top radiator hose connects to it. The heater return pipe is also connected to this pipe with an o-ring seal. For some reason this one leaks more so than the heater supply pipe which is way under the manifold. It will show as a pool of coolant sitting in the valley of the plastic timing covers.
You will need to remove the coolant pipe connecting the two heads, but it's not as bad as removing the manifold. '99

Re: 2001 rodeo coolant leak??
Ok thanks for the info. I still can not see exactly where the coolant is leaking. I will take a closer look at the crossover pipe. thanks again.

Yeesh. Ok, thanks for coming back and posting. Not being sarcastic. It will help future users know that you didn't find the problem so they won't resurrect the thread needlessly.
