Egr

Yesterday my "service engine soon" light came on. I found a P1404 code, which is an EGR fault. I cleared the code and the light hasn't come on again.(yet) I need to go for an emmissions test in a couple of months. Suggestions? Are these cleanable? Thanks.

Re: Egr

Yeah, you can clean them. It could also be defective but it is likely gunk build-up that is not allowing the valve to close all the way.

Re: Egr

Thanks Catfuz
It still hasn't come back on. I've put some premium fuel in it, as there's more cleaners in it, and I've been exercising the valve by accelerating more aggressively. (It's pretty easy to burn off another liter/ 100km). Maybe (hopefully) it was just a carbon chunk passing thru.
