1996 firing but not starting.

Hi there,

For the last couple of weeks every morning there was a small puddle of water under the car. I assumed it wasn't the waterpump cause I expected to see coolant.

Now I'm not sure if the car even had coolant, or just water in it and am not sure how to check as there is no rad cap.

My big question is, this:

Could the dripping water be the waterpump? And thus my timing is messed and that's why my car wont start?

Oil level is fine, the fuel pump turns on, and well..the engine fires a couple of times so I assume fuel is gettin there.

Not sure what else it could be.

Thanks alot for any feedback!

Dave

Re: 1996 firing but not starting.

The coolant fill cap is on top of the coolant reservoir, which is under the right side of the hood about half way between the bumper and windshield. If it's been run without coolant long enough that it won't start, the engine's probably toast.

Check for spark to all the cylinders and the fuel pressure at the fuel rail and post the results.

Re: 1996 firing but not starting.

Hi thanks for replying,

I'm gunna check all the sparks and fuel pressure on saturday, gotta work tomorrow all day unfortunately.
So if I cant determine what it is after doin all that I will post back.

Well even if I find out, I will post back. I've had this exactproblem on another j-body in the past and think it is the timing belt. But guess I'll find out.

Let you know soon!

Dave
