Spark Plug Replacement - 99 4R 3.4L V6

I replaced my plugs (99 4R 3.4L V6) today and I have a question regarding the right (passenger) side plugs. I was able to replace the plugs with no trouble at all but when I went to replace the boots/coils I noticed that when I put the boots back in the holes that they didn’t “snap” back on to the top of the plugs. The coil packs are at a set height when these are remounted so there isn’t a way to push them on to the plugs.

My question is what is the method of putting the coils & boots back on? Do you merely slide the boot back into the plug holes and bolt the coil packs down and it makes contact/connection with the plug? The manuals just say to replace the plugs and there is no mention of the wires “snapping” onto the tops of the plugs.

I put it all back together and it seems to be running fine. I haven’t replaced plugs on this vehicle before so I am wondering what is normal.

Thanks,
