Combination valve pin stem

Hi I've got a Caprice but pretty sure the Monte is the same for this, is there a specific wayto push the stem back in on the brake's combination valve (I think that's what it's called, the thing bolted to the frame where the master cylinder and all four brake lines run in to). I got a new master cylinder and bench bled it, then bled all four brakes and the stem on the combo valve is out and it won't push in. I don't wanna force it but maybe I'm supposed to. Help?

For bleeding purposes it should be pulled out slightly, is is stuck out after doing this?

Ok, to be sure have someone watch the pin as you step on the brakes hard, if it does not move the prop valve is stuck internally. ( not during bleeding just normally), you should be able to pull the pin out slightly, there is actually a small clip like tool to hold it out during power bleeding.

I could feel it move when I had my friend apply the brakes, it didn't move much though. I will see if I can pull it out at all. How much travel is this this thing supposed to have?

Okay maybe the valve isn't the problem. All I can tell that's happening now is the brake lights are staying on, which they have been this whole time. I turned the key to on and the brake warning light doesn't come on now (I think it only did when I test drove the car). But the brake lights stay on full time. Is it normal to have to adjust the brake pedal sensor thing that the pedal contacts under the dash when you put in a new master cylinder? This brake situation is pissing me off because it shouldn't be this big of a deal, it's a simple system. My car's been in the garage for 2 weeks practically because of me putting in a new master cylinder. The only help I really have is the internet unfortunately.

Look at the switch see if it looks like it is misadjusted keeping the brake lights on, no?
