1997 2.4L Water pump

My father has a 1997 2.4L Cavalier with 97,000 miles. Where is the water pump located? Is it behind the plate towards the top of the engine on the passenger side? He is getting a small amount of coolant onn the floor. We checked the hoses and they all seem dry.

Re: 1997 2.4L Water pump

There is actually a plastic collar with some cotton packed inside that GM came out with to "fix" this problem on the 2.4s... snaps around the weep hole part and lets the coolant gradually evaporate rather than drip. Not a real fix, of course, but they work to keep the floor clean... and it's a whole lot easier than replacing the W/P. The W/P is so close to the exhaust on these that, IMO, the seals never have a chance to not leak.
