any ex punks/skaters/freaks etc... out there?

Why I ask this question is,

I will admit I am an ex "punk rocker" as embarrassed as I am to say that. In reality punks are one of the snobbiest cliques there were in high school. Those that were not "punk enough" were shunned. They were worse than the in crowd. I proudly gave up that B*llsh*t my first year of college. I am now 30 years old with a job/family/responsibilities...

Anyway, what got me thinking about this was,

I recently ran into an old high school "friend" i had not seen in 12 years. He was also a "punk" in school. And to my surprise at the age of 30 he is still running around living the "punk" lifestyle, clothes, hair... and so forth. Has a part time mall job, lives at home, seems to hang out with those much younger than him...

Am I wrong in thinking that he is just plain sad and shows a lack of maturity? Or am I just being an old "fuddy duddy"?

I want your thoughts on this!

Re: any ex punks/skaters/freaks etc... out there?

Seems like he's a bum to me. IMO, anyone who's 30 years old should have their life together, you know... good job, house, decent car(s), friends of similar ago (mostly), I'm 25 and I have friends as young as 20 and as old as 70-something, but mostly 23-26.

Really, though, it's up to each individual what they want to do. I want to work hard for 30 years while I can work an 8 hour day and still have energy left over for play, then retire and do nothing then. Sure, that guy's life is great (maybe 'easy' would be a more appropriate word) now, but when he's at retirement age he'll still be working in that mall. Probably sharing a rented house or apartment with a few other people. Getting rides from people when he needs to go places. Borrowing money to pay bills. I think everyone knows people like that... not everyone thinks more than a few days ahead.
