I just bought this car for my daughter and I am trying to work on it. replaced the wires and plugs and I noticed #3 sparkplug was fouled out major. Once I got the sparkplugs back in I fired it up but still sputters and also sounds like its hesitates. I called the other owner and he said that the head was replaced on the car and after the mechanic got done said the cylinder was no good??? Have you got any suggestions on how to check this as this is puzzeling me!

Re: 95 cav with 2.2 problems
Without removing the head, I'd start with a compression test on all cylinders. If there's a low one then squirting oil into the cylinder will mask a worn bore/rings, ect. It may piont you in the right direction. Beyond that, a leak down test may also point you in the direction of a compression leak.
ps I hope you switched # 3 plug with another or replaced. |
