water outlet?

hi, i am having a problem with my 05 stratus.i noticed some pink crusty stuff around an area on the left side of my engine.when i went to get an oil change i asked them what it was and they said it was the thermostat housing leaking and i had to get the whole thing replaced.but i took it somewhere else and they said it was the water outlet that needed to be replaced and quoted me $288 for it.i have attached 2 pics and just wondering if anyone could tell me wich would be the right thing to get fixed.i dont want to waste my $ on the wrong thing.i also read that is a sign of the coolant bleeder valve where would that be located?okay nevermind about the pics it keeps coming up with an error ill kee trying to get them on here somehow.

k i got the pics in my profile but it will not let me put them here.if anyone can please take a look at them and let me know if it the water outlet that needs to be fixed and if that is a reasonable price for the fix.thank you in advance

it is very common, it's a do it yourself type of fix or significant other takes about 30 minutes with a few simple hand tools...it may be cheaper to purchase the water outlet and a few hand tools as needed..the water outlet on the 2.7 engines always leaks..

okay thank you.i think ill just pay the 288 to get it fixed.i dont really want to mess anything up and i dont know how to bleed the coolant and stuff.thanx for responding though.
