94-95 engine swap question.

Hello, I am new to your community. I looked around and did not find anything directly related to my probem. I have a 94, 2wd, 5 speed with a 2.2L engine. The head gasket took to leaking (as they all do). I was pretty optimistic about fixing the head untill i found antifreeze in the oil.

I have located a 2.2 to swap with mine. But the owner does not have a year on it and from what I understand one cannot go out of the 94-95 years on these things. If I was to get an engine number, where would one find the information needed to figure out what year it is? Thanks for any help.

Your local bone yard should have a parts/engine interchange book that has a lot of that information in it.
