Unhappy 1993 Ford Taurus

Hello, I have a 1993 Ford Taurus FlexFuel with a 3.0 V-6 engine. Recently, the car will crank, but not start. It is intermittent. I can drive it around for days, then suddenly, like at a store, it will crank and not start. If I wait for awhile, it eventually tends to start, but the time interval varies. There are NO engine codes or light that come on at the dash (OBD1). I have replace the coil pack, the fuel filter and fuel pump, new plugs and wires.
Note1: both catalytic converters were recently replaced because the coil pack 4-prong connector plug was not seated. This caused misfires which took-out the cats. They melted down and cat pieces logged in the tail pipe blocking it. I could not get the car over 30 miles per hour due to the exhaust restriction. All coil pack and exhaust problems were corrected after around $600 of work. Now this problem.
Note2: Fuel pressure at the rail is at the correct book specification of 33lbs psi when running and 45psi off with key on/engine off.
All ideas of help are appreciated.
Regards,

Re: 1993 Ford Taurus

When the car starts does it idle and run fine?

You might try cranking it for a bit then pull a spark plug or two. Are the plugs covered in wet fuel? Have you tried using fuel injector cleaner? Have you checked the air filter? I'm not sure on the 1993, does it have a Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or does it use a MAP sensor? If MAF you might try cleaning it. You might also try replacing the Coolant Temperature Sensor.

Re: 1993 Ford Taurus

Thank all for the replies. Note to date, the car has NOT acted up lately. I pulled the coil pack connector and the inductive pickup connector (where the distributor should be) and pulled and reseated them several times to make sure the contacts were cleaneded, then applied dialectric grease to both connectors and reseated them several more times. I don't know if this solved the problem, but the car has started fine since I did this. Stay tuned.
