have a 90 olds ciera with a 3.3 engine, it ran good at the beginning of summer and i parked it, now nov i put a new battery in it and it almost starts alomost like the timing is outta wack? but it just wont run.
so far it has new battery, new fuel filter, air filter, oil and filter, gas.

i did notice a ses code so i did the paper clip trick and it says 42?

Re: no start

42 is usually caused by a bad ign module, or connections to it. I assume you have good fuel pressure, what does the spark look like, jump a good sized gap and blue?

yes have fairly blue spark.
fuel pressure yes it sprays out when i pushed in the shrader valve.
the ses is not on now prolly cause of unpluggin the battery.
the car when tryin to start it turns over very fast, but doesnt even try to start. but when i let off it kinda backfired out the exhaust?
what do i do kknow

Re: no start

comprression is good 145 150 cold engine.
injs pulsing according to test light
have voltage at inj harness
have 20 psi key on 42 while tryin to start.
i did notice that the temp gauge seems to be stuck way beyond the high reading if it has anything to do with it.
maybe crank sensor?

Re: no start

20 psi? It should be 37 at least, spray carb cleaner into the intake see if it fires.

Re: no start

Something is making the engine run too rich, leaking injectors, excess fuel pressure, leaking fuel press reg., bad map sensor.

Re: no start

If you have a timing light, check it. Timing could be way out of whack...

Re: no start

There is no way to set or adjust the timing on these cars.

Re: no start

update!!!!
ok been awhile
replaced fuel pump and filter press now at 45 instead of 20.
still same prob..
ok so tried a new ecm..
still nothing..
same problem
so was told to try putting some denatured alcohol in the tank guess that removes water etc.
ok so dumped in a full can about 4litres to a 1/4 tank of fuel primed it thru fuel rail and tried it again...
it fired stumbled and died but restarted after a few minutes it was running.
long story short try adding alcohol before anything else.
