Question Help! 94 2jz 6spd...transmission noise

I have a 94 with the 2JZ-GTE and Getrag 6spd, there's a noise coming from the transmission...not a constant growl but almost like a knocking/clunking noise coming from what sounds like the ass end of the tranny. The noise is only present when the clutch is let out in neutral or depressed in 1st while coasting. The unit's been torn down 3 times now, no issues can be found internally, new flywheel and clutch assembly(pressure plate, disc) have been installed with no change. The noise started after the clutch was replaced last time 6 months ago. I'm curious to see if anyone else has had or has heard of this same issue. I'm wondering if it's actually a noise from the motor traveling down the line and making it seem like the noise is in the transmission. Any help, suggestions, ideas, etc...would be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance.

I would check the universal joint at the back of the transmission.
