you need new bilstien sport shocks with the 9c1 HD springs.all four.. at this time you replace all the sway bar bushings. then you will not have that old man boat ride... but its gonna cost ya... |

Re: 94 caprice suspension
Find the local club and ask for help.
I would NOT go replacing springs just yet. Shocks might be a good idea. Bilstein 0929 are nice but so are Monroe Severe Service for less money. Depending how tha car was optioned it may or maynot have a rear swaybar. If it does not they are easy to add. Front swaybar bushings could be worn too. Really though find the local club and they can help you diagnose things better. The forums will be of more help to you in diagnosis/repair once you are a bit more knowledgable and can tell us more. Do NOT be in a big hurry to throw anything "police" at the car, the police cars were NOT really upgraded.

Re: 94 caprice suspension
Two words - Body Bushings.
Putting in ALL the frame-to-body bushings helped stiffen up my '94 to the point of getting some real feedback and less floaty feel.

I forgot about that ...they have a kit with the harder stiffer bushings.. not an easy install...after all the other work is done then if necessary use the stiffer bushing kit... |

[quote=j cAT;6070324]did you see any water pump leaks the last time ? why did the opti fail earlier ?
i bought the car for 400 cuz it would crank but not move you could push the damn thing faster than u could accelerate so i replaced cap and rotor didnt work it was the actual opti that was messed up replaced the whole thing(opti) and ran like a champ i think the cap and rotor is messed up cuz a hose clamp messed up and slipped off i think the opti got wet but im not sure |

the weep hole drain relocation is a proven way to avoid coolant issues...I have found on occation the weep hole to leak out some coolant. I can't explain why it will then stop for a year then leak again for a few days..just enough to mess up the opti , with the drain relocation though its no problem.. |

Re: 94 caprice suspension
Just curious, what is this drain hole relocation mentioned below? I have noticed that my water pump on my 96 is occasionally wet on the bottom, and I have also been getting an intermittent surge/misfire, especially when going up hills. I wonder if the 2 are related?

Replacing the upper bushings with GMPN 457915 in the first six locations and 457917 in the rearmost location will clamp the body to the frame nicely and stiffen up the entire assembly.

Re: 94 caprice suspension
monroe shocks are not what I would use..........
kyb possible.. bilstien sport shocks yes! what is the height of your vehicle ...at each wheel well center point to the ground, on level surface..? did you check the shocks you have in there.? you will want a double action shock a shock that resist going in both directions..the stock shocks go down easy then slowly come up.. |
