For the problem, there's really no way to give an answer from this little information. How many miles? What kind of upgrades? Has regular maintenance been done? Is it smoking at idle or full throttle? The more information we have the better we can help you out.

black smoke is usually overfueling. is the air filter clean. you are losing air or overfueling. is the check engine light on. i think if you have a bad forward 02 sensor it will overfuel and run rough, or if your cutting off the air. is the car turboed, if so i think you may not be getting enough boost. hopefully i could help

well the car is a 98 model gst the motor i put in is a 6 bolt what i did to it was i changed the t25 with a 16g and i removed all the plastic pipping and made all metal with a blitz blow off i put the 2gen exhaust manifold the rest is 1gen i changed the tps sensor to the 2gen i added the map sensor to a breather hose to the intake manifold 2.5 down pipe no exhaust..what should the compression be on the engine ...it just killing the gas smoking black at idle..it seems like no power.it lagging in the biggining then after 3000rpm it revs a little quicker...

ok finally fixed that issue it was simple not so hard i replaced the mass air meter it still smokes just a little but olmost any..before was like a big cloud of black smoke...but it runs good in all but the thing is i got a hold of a compression tester and got 90 90 90 90 is that good enough for this kind of engine 4g63t 2.0 6bolt?

IIRC compression should fall between 160 and 180 but either check a Chilton's manual or wait for someone else to come by to confirm/correct.

Please try to use atleast subpar grammar...its a pain in the ass trying to read some of the garbage people write sometimes.

what might be the problem if compression reading r 90 90 90 90 .. ??well just got a head new valves valve seals done at machine shop ...is there a way to check the block??/the head should be 100% but i dont know about the block...should i put cooolant in the cylinders and wait 2 c what happens and how long??? ALSO CAN I USE 2 GEN PISTON AND PUT THEM ON THE 6 BOLT WHAT WOULD HAVE TO BE DONE ??

Since you just put the rebuilt head on there I would suggest checking timing. If the cam is off even 1 tooth it can drastically decrease compression in all cylinders. Do another compression test and this time check it first. Then dump a capful of oil in the cylinder and it compression raises then your rings are worn. The block should be fine but will need to be honed at the very least and possibly need to be bored if the cylinder walls are damage or out of spec. Do not put coolant in your cylinders!
