vr4 engine

I was wondering if I have a 1995 3000gt SL and was thinking of buying a 1992 vr4 engine to swap with it. Will that be possible? If it is what kind of problems does it have when swapping engines?

Re: vr4 engine

You would need to do some rewiring. 95's have a hybrid ECU, 92'd have OBDI. With that said you would likely want to swap out to a TT ECU if you went that route. Read the FAQ thread posted in the sticky area as it will answer some of your questions about swapping from n/a to TT.

Re: vr4 engine

Technically no rewiring needed.

He could put the 92 engine in, using the NA harness and NA ECU, or even a 1g TT ECU, and not have any issues with OBD or hybrid.

The only rewiring would be for the CAS.

NA ECU on a TT swap FTL.

Re: vr4 engine

You can use a NA ECU with a piggyback. People do it all the time. It is better to use a TT ecu though as it has the proper fuel maps for boost, etc.
