02 Buick Regal won't turn over

I have replaced the ignition switch, and key cylinder in this car and it worked perfectly. I started it up and drove it multiple times. Now when I try to turn the ignition switch only the radio appears to turn on. None of the dash diagnostic lights come on and the Car refuses to even turn over.

I did notice that the solinoid next to the ignition switch got very hot when I plugged the battery in for the first time. But this cooled down after I drove the car around for a while. The battery is under 2 years old

Re: 02 Buick Regal won't turn over

I removed the new BWD ignition switch and reinstalled the old Delco and the dash lit up when the ignition switch was turned on. The cruise control still did not function though. I noticed that the new BWD switch had a loose cap which retained some spring and snapped it back down reinstalled it and the car is running again.

After getting the car back together and restoring confidence in my mechanical abilities, I decided to change the brake fluid and put new brake pads on all four wheels.
