Question Vibrating and Popping

I am having an issue with my car and I do not think its tire related. When I hit speeds between 70-85mpg there is a vibration that I can feel in the car and on the steering wheel.

Also when i make right turns I hear popping on the drivers side as I go over bumps in the road. Both of these developed at the same time so I believe they are related.

I have a 05 GTP with 110,000k miles on it. Also the Hub has already been replaced on the drivers and passenger side along with the passenger side half shaft (cv joint). I would greatly appreciate any help!

I'm not having vibration issues, but I'm having the same right turns, bumps, popping issue. My car is in the shop right now as a matter of fact and I'm waiting to hear back. If they figure it out I'll let you know what you can at least check for and if you figure yours out sooner, make sure to post back so I know what to check for!

Re: Vibrating and Popping

The shop says everything checked out and they have no clue what could be causing a knock....

Re: Vibrating and Popping

As an update, I'm having the strut mounts replaced on Friday, so we'll see if that fixes my issue. Any headway on yours?

Re: Vibrating and Popping

Looks like the tires were causing some of the vibration but there is still some at high speeds and I still have the popping issue.

Re: Vibrating and Popping

Could it be the lower ball joint, or maybe the outer tierod ends, causing the problem.

Re: Vibrating and Popping

I replaced my front struts and mounts and that didn't fix my pooping issue (granted they needed to be replaced anyway). The shop said they did notice my ball joint had some play in it but said that it wouldn't cause a knock/popping. I also replaced my outer tie-rod ends a month or so ago. Have you looked at yours?

Re: Vibrating and Popping

I am taking my car in tomorrow... I took it to the tire shop and they said that my tires are now out of alignment as well so I am thinking that it is due to the play in my outer tie rod ends. I will post an update as soon as i know!

Re: Vibrating and Popping

I took my car in. I had a bad outer tie rod end on the passenger side. A bad hub on the passenger side. And a bad hub on the passenger side rear wheel as well. I have 120k on my 05 gp GTP. I don't know what else it could be. A lot of the vibrations have stopped since that all was replaced, but I still feel a vibration through my steering wheel and through my floorboard. Any other advice? (new cv joint is also in place).

Re: Vibrating and Popping

I don't think this is too related to your problem, but I just replaced my passenger side axle because it was pretty much busted in half ha but I still feel a noticable vibration and shaking when I hit 70 and 80mph but nothing else seems to be bad on the car?
Also, tires are still in good shape.

Question Re: Vibrating and Popping

I am in need of desperate help!!!

I have still had the popping and vibrations and it got worse. I took off my tire and was able to move the cv joint on the drivers side easily by hand... So I replaced It...

Once I replaced it, I realized that the popping noise I have been getting may have been from the shaft that goes into the cv joint from the transmission. It rotates all around but also moves in and out about a 5/16 of an inch... This movement in and out is what is causing the popping noise I have been hearing...

Please Help. I don't know what to do from here.

Re: Vibrating and Popping

did you replace just the cv joint, or the entire cv axle?
