2006 GT "check gas cap" light on

2006 GT 3.8l S/C

Check gas cap light on. Yes I replaced the cap and still on. I know what it means, just want to know if anyone has had the same issue and what fixed it. I would like to ba able to do the repair myself. Thanks..

If I'm not mistaking, I'm pretty sure all that means is that it reads there is a leak in the system causing the light to come on. i would maybe check the filler neck to be sure there are no leaks.

I'm not 100% sure on this. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

It's probably just a bad seal on your gas cap.

Do you smell any fuel vapors under the hood?
How much gas is in your car?

brand new gas cap. No fuel smell, and it happens at any level from full to on E.
