2000 Isuzu Rodeo

So I tried the search function and just got bogged down in it...lol

This is my first post here but an exp. forum'er.

My question is which side of my rodeo is Bank 1?? I need to replace my bank 1 upper o2 sensor and I don't wanna change the wrong side.

ok so new problem.

Backstory is about a month ago my check engine light came on. checked codes and it said that bank 1 was running rich. new air filter seemed to have cured that.

About a week ago the light came on again and this time the same bank was running Lean?? so I replaced the sparkplugs as they were in dire need of changing. After changing the sparkplugs it ran great for a couple days.

Then on saturday day I was sitting a red light and the damn thing just died. Hmmm... it started up and went on our way just fine...until I got home and let it sit for about a minute and it died again, and the check engine light came on again. so I went down and read the codes again. It said the O2 sensor was bad. Changed that, drove to schucks and cleared the codes again so it would read the new O2 sensor.

After driving around a bit more I came to a red light and the transmission seemed to stumble dropping into first, but the motor stayed running. got home again and left it idling. After about 10 mins it freakin died again. Now it will only idle for about a minute before it just flat dies.

Also it doesn't act like it's bogging down at all and dieing it's as if you just shut it off instantly. Also it seems to be idling a little low. seems to sit around 650-700rpm's.

Any help is greatly apprecitaed as I need this car to be running as it's the only one that currently is at this point!!

Poor idle plus codes related to oxygen / mixture sound like failed inlet manifold gasket to me.

So I fixed it...

I spoke to a very smart guy at the parts store. He told me that these rodeo/passports have a backup battery in the ECU. In order to truly reset the computer to "Factory" settings you have to remove the batt. cables and leave them off for about 12-14 hours!! so I took the batt. terminals off and left them off overnight and while I was at work today. Got home put them back on fired her up and she runs (and idles) like a champ again!!

I think the only thing I don't like about this Rodeo is all the sensors and computer do-dads, that make it difficult to diagnose

I'm glad your symptoms are gone, however something is not right. The ECU does not have a back-up battery, also the ECU does not generate faults so resetting should not have cleared your problems.

If it re-offends try checking the inlet manifold gaskets by spraying carb cleaner around the manifold base to see if the revs rise.
