Interior light problem

Anyone ever dealt with the interior lights blinking on and off? Mine will do it, driving down the road or sitting still.

Now the weird part is, I can hit the steering wheel and they will stop. This is the courtesy lights only. No dash lights affected.

Any thoughts?

Re: Interior light problem

The GEM is located under the instrument panel, to the right if the steering wheel. It controls the courtesy lights based on in puts from the door switches and the interior light switch on the instrument panel. The lights also turn on when the key is turned off.

It could be a door switch, but it might be the I/P switch or the GEM itself.

Is the problem limited to the courtesy on the doors and under the I/P, or do the dome lights come on also?

Re: Interior light problem

This is mainly just the dome lights that are going crazy. I thought about a door sensor, But why would it stop when you hit the steering wheel?

Re: Interior light problem

I will try some graphite in the ignition cylinder and see if that helps.

Thanks

Re: Interior light problem

I had same problem, noticed that I could stop it by jiggling the ignition key switch. Sprayed the keyhole with the small blue can of graphite lubricant. Hasn't happened since.
